"According to the latest edition of EMC's World Cellular Handset Tracker, Samsung is the clear market leader in terms of the number of handsets launched with an integrated camera and multi media messaging (MMS) capability," comments Peter Mathers, Research Analyst at EMC. Based on the 17 markets* covered in the latest edition of EMC's World Cellular Handset Tracker, the Korean vendor currently has over 60 handsets with integrated cameras commercially available compared to only 18 from Nokia.

In Q2 2004 alone, in the 17 markets covered, Samsung released nine handsets that incorporated integrated cameras together with MMS capability, compared to five from rival Korean vendor LG, four from Motorola and three each from Nokia and Sony Ericsson. These figures underline Samsung's strategy of capturing more market share by incorporating multi media functionality on more of its handsets than rival vendors.
* The 17 markets cover: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, UK, USA
